WMS October Release - Waltz

Welcome to the October WMS release blog hop. There are 6 wonderful sets this time around and today we're showcasing Candy Jar Christmas and Candy Jar Christmas Fillers.

As usual, there will be a prize of a stamp set of choice from a random drawing from one of the Design Team member's blog. You have until October 17th 11:59 PM, 5:5 9AM Central, 3:59 AM Pacific and 6:59 AM Eastern. So be sure to start at Claire's blog for the full list! Mona's next on the hop.

Holiday meal planning is a big deal in our house.
We take our appetizers, our desserts, very seriously.
I usually list out options with low fat, good grains.
My husband finds things with high fat and lots of carbs.
And then fight it out.

I made a little recipe holder that fits in my purse.
When I come up with a brilliant idea for the holiday menu,
I can just pull it out and jot it down.
Instead of recipes, you could use this as a to-do list, a wishlist for Xmas...

I have dividers to break the holder up by section.
Because I like things to be organized.
Maybe a little too much?
(Sorry for the blurred photo... I didn't notice until it was too late and the sun isn't co-operating right now)

Next up is the ever so talented Mona. Be sure to check out her fabulous projects!

WMS October Release - Day 2

It's day 2 of the WMS October release! As mentioned already, there are 6 stamp sets for this release - all of them just perfect for those winter cards and gifts. They'll be available in the WMS store Oct 15.

Today we're sharing samples from Nordic Winter. Nordic Winter is such a warm set, filled with great background building options.

It hasn't been that cold here yet.
The hubs makes fun of me when I pull out my fleece for my commute.
But I have an excuse!

I've been biking into work most days.
Because I believe in self-powered commuting.
Because I believe that even if I reduce my carbon footprint one petal at a time, it still matters.
And it's cold when the sun isn't out!

After a few weeks of blissful biking in the summer sun, it has started to rain sometimes.
More of a drizzle. But still... enough to get me cold and wet.
So it's been nice to come home, get into my warm pjs, drink some tea and snuggle under the quilt my mom made.
That "warm" feeling is how I feel about Nordic Winter. If I could snuggle with a stamp set, this one would be it.

I used the pattern that reminds me most of the pattern on my quilt and stamped it repeatedly.
Then I stamped another pattern in Versamark and applied some Perfect Pearls onto it.
Have I mentioned how much I love and adore Perfect Pearls?

The shine is so perfect for winter cards.
And the silver color is as well.
Tied off the card with a silver glittery button and some ribbon.
Because every card can use a little ribbon.

Thanks for stopping by!

Waltzingmouse Stamps September Release - Waltz

Welcome to the Waltzingmouse September Release Design Team Blog Waltz. Make sure to start at Claire's blog to go through the entire waltz! You should have come here from Jennifer's blog - if you didn't, be sure to make the rounds! There's some fabulous eye candy!

As always, there will be a prize for one lucky blog hop commentor. Comments are open until September 21th 11:59 PM, 5:5 9AM Central, 3:59 AM Pacific and 6:59 AM Eastern.

This card just showcases the cute little snowman from A Cottage Christmas. I really liked him and so that's how this card got started.

Perfect Pearls has really become my favorite thing to use and this card is really no exception.
After creating the card, I decided it needed just a little something more.
A little shimmer never hurt anyone...

Next up on the waltz is the uber talented Mona. Be sure to stop by to see what she has to share!

Cookie Monster Scrapbooks

This made me smile today so I thought I'd share. Note that even Cookie Monster (or perhaps his mom?) scrapbooks. :) And look at the happy memories it brought to Cookie Monster!

And it's just cute to watch Cookie Monster as a baby. :)

Waltzingmouse Stamps July Release - Waltz

Welcome to the Waltzingmouse July Release Design Team Blog Waltz. There are EIGHT fabulous sets being featured today!

Make sure to start at Claire's blog to go through the entire waltz! You should have come here from Jennifer's blog - if you didn't, be sure to make the rounds! There's some fabulous eye candy and prizes to be won!

Remember you can win a free stamp set by leaving a comment at each blog post along the waltz, including this post! Your comment must be received by 11:59 pm EASTERN on July 2nd. One winner will be chosen from comments left on one of the DT member's blogs! So leaving a comment on this blog gives you a chance to win some free goodies and by making the rounds, you can increase your chances!

(Edited to add: I should be clear that I'm not going to stop crafting. Just switching jobs. This isn't a craft related "change")

I could tell you that I wanted to show you that "Big Day Essentials" could be used for non-wedding cards.
But that would be a lie...
Today's card is really for me.

Because after almost 6 years with a wonderful company,
(5 years and 11 months to the date - add 9 more months if you want to count my internships)
I have decided to leave.
Today is my very last day.

I leave with mixed feelings.
Part of me is thrilled to have a new opportunity.
The other part of me is sad to be leaving some fabulous people.
(And honestly, some of the smartest people I've ever met.)

It's funny because I thought I'd be with this company until I retired
or until they kicked me out.... whichever came first...
But sometimes personal situations mess with plans.

So to everyone who I've known and worked with, this is for you.
I wish everyone the best, personally and professionally.

Thanks for stopping by!
The next step along the way is the very talented Mona!
If you haven't been waltzing, make sure to start at Claire's blog and remember to comment for a chance to win!

Waltzingmouse Stamps July Release - Day 3

Welcome to the third day of the Waltzingmouse Stamps May Release previews! The DT and I will be sharing projects over the next several days featuring EIGHT new stamp sets that will be available for purchase at the Waltzingmouse online store starting Friday, July 1. Today we're previewing Eat Cake, You're Lovely, and Flourishes - Scallops and Dots.

With Love Card
I love swirls.
They make me happy.
Especially pretty ones and ones with mirror images of each other.
And Claire has more than outdone herself with these swirls!
Love.

Happy Birthday Card
The cuppies and sentiment are from Frame It. I thought the stand would make a lovely cuppie stand.
So I stamped a stack of cuppies onto to the stand.
And embossed a lovely border (also from Eat Cake).

Felicitations Card
I'm not sure how obvious it is but I embossed the card base with a medallion image. And the dress fits with it just perfectly!

For the dress, I cut it out and then adhered lots and lots of glitter on it.
I figured I'm already in the doghouse for yesterday's glitter card...
Why not keep going?
And I'm unsupervised tonight, once again...
*Smile*
One day my husband will learn and never leave me in the house alone with glitter...

Have ya'll been getting your stamping groove on? The Moxie Fab Challenge for Stamp It Week is still going on and I've created these stamp cards for it as well! I've definitely enjoyed getting my hands inky again finally! :) It's been awhile and for those of you who know what is going on my personal life, it'll be awhile until I get to be inky again.

Thanks for stopping by and be sure to check out what these other lovely ladies have to share!

Waltzingmouse Stamps July Release - Day 2

Welcome to the second day of the Waltzingmouse Stamps May Release previews! The DT and I will be sharing projects over the next several days featuring EIGHT new stamp sets that will be available for purchase at the Waltzingmouse online store starting Friday, July 1.

Today the DT is featuring Big Day Essentials and Big Day Additions. These are a wonderful set of sentiments, perfect for that big day. I will say for the record, I am glad my "big day" is behind me. :) Although this set would certainly have made my invites and my thank you notes so much prettier!

So let's go ahead and get started!

Thank You Chevron Card
I figured I'd start with the card that has a story.

Yes, that's glitter. Lots and lots of glitter. My husband spends his summers umpiring HS baseball.
When unsupervised, I decide to do stupid crafty things
(His words, not mine)
I think it's quite brilliant actually...

I also asked my husband for a protractor.
He told me I was probably the only person in the world who would use a protractor to make a chevron pattern.
I think he's wrong...  surely someone else has asked for a protractor for crafty reasons...
Protractors are not just pieces of plastic we bought because it was on our 4th grade supply list... right?

He also told  me he wouldn't lend me his for fear of glitter.
How rude!
Ok, actually we couldn't figure out which box the protractor would be in...

So back to my glittery paper.
I didn't have anything with a chevron pattern.
After thinking about this, I realized I had a lot of glitter.
In lots of fun colors.
And glitter is a wonderful thing.

So I took some adhesive paper, adhered it to some scrap paper, scored a chevron pattern.
And then just like those sand art pieces of art I used to love as a child, I peeled off selective pieces of the adhesive backing and then applied glitter.
Lovely lovely glitter!

Thank You Card
Ok after that attack on your eyes, I figured a simple card can help calm you down a bit.
Simple and sweet.

The first thing I did was stamp the sentiment. Then I drew the frame to create a fun little border.
And then punched the stars. Don't try to do it the other way. It's so much harder to punch the stars and then try to draw a border. Not that I would know...

And then I backed the stars with some patterned paper.
Easy Peasy.

Best Wishes Lace Card
Another easy peasy card and it would be so easy to mass produce this.
I stamped a pretty doily image from Dainty Doilies - Small. And then embossed the sentiment in white embossing powder. Added a little scoring detail and there you go!

This would make a lovely thank you card as well. Just modify that sentiment. :)

Best Wishes Cake Card
The cake and border comes from a set you'll see more of tomorrow. But really, that set works so perfectly with Big Day Essentials. :)  I stamped the cake and then embossed the pattern with silver EP. Since I wasn't patient enough to wait for the pink ink to dry first, I had speckles of silver in my cake -- but it adds flair!

Ok, I'm off to go shower again...  I'm still covered in glitter. Despite showering twice already today.

Thanks for stopping by and be sure to stop by everyone's fabulous creations!

Waltzingmouse Stamps July Release - Day 1

Welcome to the first day of the Waltzingmouse Stamps May Release previews! The DT and I will be sharing projects over the next several days featuring EIGHT new stamp sets that will be available for purchase at the Waltzingmouse online store starting Friday, July 1. Today the DT is featuring Cameo to Go, Cameo Creations - Ovals, and Classic Frames.

It's also time to get your stampy groove on! :) Did you see the new Moxie Fab Challenge for Stamp It Week? What a fun challenge... and I know you all love your stamps as much as me! :) I'm entering both of these cards for it and I'm sure getting inky this week!

You're So Fabby Card
For my first card, I decided to stamp one of the cameo images over again in gray. I picked the other girl cameo and stamped it in pink to let it stand out. And really, what other sentiment works best than "You're so fabby" from Fancy Phrases.

Cameo Color Card

The color combination comes from week one of the Summer Card Camp. I had a pile of cards ready for this week and then I realized that every single one of them was pink, grey and white. So I decided to try my hand at a little color.  Although I have issues with more than 2 colors. So I did what every other person who doesn't know what to do, I color-blocked. I did emboss a woodgrain but it's not so obvious in the photo.

Thanks for stopping by and make sure to go see what everyone else has in store for you!

Friends of WMS June Waltz

It's the 17th!
It's the Friends of WMS Waltz!
This month's waltz is all about July 4th and Americana.
Celebrating the red, white and blue!
Be sure to check out all the fabulous waltzers here on this thread

The husband's cousin just competed in the state-level Special Olympics.
Congrats M!

I've always thought it was pretty cool that she participated.
So I thought I'd send her a little "Hurrah" card!
Not knowing what colors she liked,
And Olympics always makes me think of the red, white and blue.
I figured who can go wrong with a red, white and blue card?
(and kraft for some good measure!)

I actually stamped one of the ornament centers from Vintage Ornaments and embossed with with a clear holographic embossing powder. I love sparkly. :) It sort of looks like the star beams, don't you think? Added a punched out star and some buttons.  I created a little banner and stamped the sentiment from Fancy Phrases.

I sort of played around and thought it might be a touch too simple.
Yet I couldn't figure out what more to add.
So I let it be.
Because sometimes it's better just to let things be.

Thanks for waltzing by!

Best Wishes

Ok, with all the talk about me hating weddings, I thought I'd make one point clear.
I really do love certain weddings.

A wedding centered around love.
A wedding with family.
A wedding where you feed me well...
(Especially with tasty Indian food)
Please invite me to those. :)

My husband was part of the wedding party in a fun Indian wedding a few weekends ago.
D and M are just perfect for each other and we couldn't be more thrilled to be a part of their wedding.

That and there was loads of Indian food.
Oh my! I was in heaven.
I don't think I've ever eaten that much...

I happened to stop by to visit my parents while the guys had their bachelor party.
And my mom told me that my bum was smaller and better looking now.
Thanks mom...
But I'm pretty sure any "bum fat" that I lost, I gained right back.

I don't have food pics because honestly, I gobbled it down before I could take a pic.
Not to mention, I'm not sure Indian food really photographs well...

And how do you go to a wedding without a card?

This was a quicky card because I was on the road the week before the wedding. I almost flew into Chicago directly so I didn't waste a day driving (in addition to flying).

So the card... Stamped some simple flowers and then outlined with copics. A sentiment and the best attempt at a mehndi like effect that I could find (from Victorian Frippery). Sure, it's not totally Indian but perhaps Claire will come out with a lovely Mehndi set? :)

Speaking of mehndi, I had a little done on my hand at the sangeet.

Um, yeah, I am not patient enough to wait for it to set before I washed it off..
But it was loads of fun to have done!

Thanks for stopping by!

June SOAP - Day 4

Welcome to the last day of the June SOAP event for Waltzingmouse Stamps. For the past 3 days, the Design Team has shared projects with you from Waltzingmouse Stamps’ latest release, but we also love all of older sets that WMS has too, so today we are sharing projects we have made using Free Spirit Boy.

So I just got back from a business trip.
And this flight has been the most eventful yet.
First off, the plane was delayed coming in.
Typical...

But then they couldn't close the door.
Yes, it's bad when the airplane door doesn't close.
The flight attendents tried. The pilots tried.
They found some strong maintnence guy who closed the door.
Even if there might have been duct tape involved...
I have no problems with duct tape holding the door closed.
That stuff is strong.

And then when we landed,
well, they couldn't get the jetway to work with the plane.
I was really tempted to go out the emergency exit.
If only because I really wanted to try the emergency slide.
It looks so fun.

And so this card is dedicated to my favorite airline.
Way to Go!
Said with just a touch of sarcasm because I'm a really grumpy traveler.
Who should have been home 3 hrs ago.

*Sorry, this stamper hasn't stamped in awhile because of traveling snafus. This card was also published in the latest Card Creations 9 from Paper Crafts Magazine. Check it out. Lots of fun projects.

Now it’s time for you to get your craftiness on as we invite you to participate in a CASE (Copy and Share Everything) competition.

Find a card or project from any of the projects posted over the past few days by the WMS Design Team, CASE that project using Waltzingmouse Stamp images, and link it using the Inlinkz on Claire’s blog at http://waltzingmouse.blogspot.com/. At the end of the competition, one project will be randomly selected to be highlighted with a Parade of its own on several of the Design Team blogs.

We hope you will enjoy this competition and that it will inspire your creativity. You have one week to complete and link your project as the competition will close on June 10th at 8:00 AM Claire’s time, which is 3 AM Eastern, 2 AM Central and Midnight, Pacific time. The winner will be announced on Claire’s blog on June 11th.

Don't forget to check out the rest of the DT's blogs!

June SOAP - Day 2

In the next few days, Waltzingmouse Stamps is having a Stamp of Approval Parade, or SOAP for short. This is day 2 - if you missed day 1, be sure to go check it out! We'll be highlighting last month’s new release sets for the next three days. We'll have a fun little post for you on the fourth day as well. And keep your eyes peeled for some fun chances to participate in the fun (and perhaps win a fun prize!)

Today I have a quick layout to share.
And it is going to be a quick post too.

I stamped the doilies from Dainty Doilies - Large and cut them in half. They made a fun decorative banner. I also used one of the doilies to emphasize my date (right above the photo).

Thanks for stopping by and be sure to visit the rest of the DT blogs!

Take Me Out to the Ball Game

When we were little, we used to give us free tickets to see the Chicago White Sox when (1) we got straight A's or (2) we got perfect attendance.
(Actually not sure if this was a Chicago area incentive or if it was just my school district? My husband went to school in the Chicago area as well but he can't remember why he went to baseball games as a kid)

I won't claim straight A's.
Ironically, I don't think I got straight A's until I got to college.
And I assure you, my Alma Marta will NEVER make the top list of party schools.

I always had perfect attendance.
My mom made me go to school with bronchitis.
I took one of my standardized tests with a fever.
I remember my mom waiting outside for me and popping in to give me medication in between the tests.
Yes, we were *that* family.

But at the end of the day, it doesn't matter how we got the tickets.
I always looked forward to these games.
Not because I particularly understood baseball..
But more because it's fun to be with the crowd.
And eat a hot dog.
Heck fricking yeah!

My husband loves baseball.
When we go back to Chicago for the summer, we usually try to catch a game at Wrigley.
Although sadly, I didn't think about it this year...
Alas, we wouldn't have had time anyways.

Normally we get bleacher seats at Wrigley cos my husband likes trying to catch the balls that get out there.
And I like the bleacher seats cos that's where the crowd is.

This layout is actually my first time in Wrigley with the hubs (well BF at the time).
The hubs felt that I'd understand the game more if I could see it from above.
He quickly learned I don't care.
I just agreed because he promised me a hot dog.
I will go to any sports event as long as you promise me a hot dog.
Or nachos. Or anything remotely fatty.
It brings me a lot of joy to watch people run around while I pig out.

And yes, I know the song says "Take me out to the ball game"
That's the only comment my husband had when I showed this to him.
But I couldn't get it to fit.
And so I took a creative liberty.

Hot DAWG!

I love a good Chicago Dog.
Give me an all-beef dog with my tomato wedges, mustard, chopped onion, pickle, peppers, relish and a dash of celery salt. And most importantly, no ketchup!
I could eat one every day.
I kid you not.

In fact, every year when I go visit the 'rents,
I pick myself up some fabulously neon green relish that I can only find in select stores in the Chicago area.
Yum!

And so when my small-handed friend informed me she had never had a Chicago Dog...
Well, we had to get one (or two)!
Normally I'd take a fresh face to Hot Dougs, but we were super close to Superdawgs...
(For those of you going to Summer CHA, Superdawgs isn't too far away.. and it's fabulous)

And so here's the layout depicting our trip.
Cased the layout from KP (will have to dig up the original)
I really would like to go back now...
Or make the husband go out and grill me a dog.

I actually really like all sorts of hot dogs...
Just ask my husband.
I asked to go on a date outside Home Depot once because there was a fabulous hot dog man there.
(With some fabby red onion sauce... Oh yum!)
For the record, my husband is not a handy guy who likes Home Depot...
Ah, for the love of hot dogs!

Thanks for stopping by!

From Up Top

I think I've said this before.
When I go on vacation,
I jam pack in everything.

Because in the short time I'm there,
I'm determined to see everything.
You just never know when you'll be back...

So in Europe, we climbed lots of church towers.
Lots and lots. And I loved them all.

The view from up top is just stunning.
This one happens to be Grossmunster in Zurich.

A Europe layout means lacey vintage to me.
And another attempt at layering.

While I was at it, I partook in the BPC challenges.
One was issued by Suzy Plantamura to use banners.
I love me a good banner. And apparently Suzy loved mine a little too.
Thanks again Suzy! :-)

I also had some doilies that I managed to sneak onto the layout.
Almost as an afterthought though.
I just cut out the centers of the doilies and stuck them around my already glued down embellishments.
But shhhhh!

Thanks for stopping by and have a lovely week!

The Red-Haired Mermaid

I've never gotten it...
But my husband has explained to me the allure of red-haired women many times.
I just don't get it.

Maybe that's because I grew up thinking men wanted silky black haired women...
My mom always said "Eat more seaweed so your hair will be black to attract the men"
I ate lots of seaweed. Lots and lots.
Heck, we have a huge pack of seaweed that my mom just gave me last time we went to visit her.
So red-haired, really???
Hah, blame my culture.

But being the nice wife that I am,
I gave my husband a red-haired woman.
The only red-haired woman he's going to get...
Well, if he wants to stay married to this silky black-haired girl...

This layout was my attempt to layer more.. yeah... I'm not convinced I layered more but I tried...
What can I say, I'm clean and simple.

When I showed my husband the layout, he only had one comment.
A very guy comment.
My husband commented that his little red-haired girl wasn't wearing a top!
I argued that Cosmo is a nice family company but then I took a closer look...
I think I have to agree.

But I'll leave it up to you, dear reader, to make your own conclusion.
But only in this house can we argue for 30 minutes about a piece of chipboard.
Feel free to click on the closeup for a closer view of the topless red-haired woman.

Thanks for stopping by! Have a great day!

Waltzingmouse Stamps May Release - Waltz

Welcome to the Waltzingmouse March Release Design Team Blog Waltz. Make sure to start at Claire's blog to go through the entire waltz! You should have come here from Sarah's blog - if you didn't, be sure to make the rounds! There's some fabulous eye candy and prizes to be won!

Remember you can win a free stamp set by leaving a comment at each blog post along the waltz, including this post! Your comment must be received by 11:59 pm EASTERN on May 2nd. One winner will be chosen from comments left on one of the DT member's blogs! So leaving a comment on this blog gives you a chance to win some free goodies and by making the rounds, you can increase your chances!

Today our cards feature Say It Loud. It's a fabulous set filled with large sentiment and then some small accompanying sentiments. :)

Thanks Card

For this card, I used one of the gingham backgrounds from Gingham & Co. I stamped it first. And then embossed my sentiment over it. Make sure you dry your stamping completely or your embossing powder might stick to the other stamped image. (And that's definitely not what you want).

Birthday Wishes Card
So this second card, I meant to share yesterday. This is actually created with the doilies from the Dainty Doilies Large set. :) I love the calming effect of bg stamping.

This gives you a closer look at the stamped bg. I love playing around with the bg sets and sometimes what you make surprises you.

Thanks for stopping by. The next step along the way is the fabulous Mona! If you haven't been waltzing, make sure to start at  Claire's blog and remember to comment for a chance to win!

Waltzingmouse Stamps May Release - Day 3

Welcome to the second day of the Waltzingmouse Stamps May Release previews! The DT and I will be sharing projects over the next several days featuring FIVE new stamp sets that will be available for purchase at the Waltzingmouse online store starting Sunday, May 1.

Today we're all sharing creations with the doily sets: Dainty Doilies - Large and Dainty Doilies 2 - Small. It's a fabulous set that you can use to create so many lovely doilies with! :)

So I am going to start with a quick apology. The batteries of my camera are not charged... silly Belinda. So I'm unable to pull additional pics off. :( However, I do have one layout that I did pull off earlier (yes, sometimes I don't procrastinate... just sometimes). Of course I say that and it's 1am EST. ;-)

So I have a simple layout.
A layout that if B knew she was on, she'd kill me.
She is not a fan of glitter and if she knew what a doily was, I'm pretty sure she wouldn't approve.
But because I love to tease her, I had to put glitter on any layout with B in it.
Only cos I love her!

Lucky for me she's not in the same state as me anymore.
And I'm also 95% sure she doesn't read this blog.
Because part of me isn't really sure that state lines would save me from her wrath. ;-)

So I used the doily from Dainty Doilies 2 - Small. It's a little mini set that is totally jam packed with fabulous images! The larger image you see on the top corner of the photo is a 2 set stamp. You need to stamp it twice.

Are the doilies easy to stamp?
Sure.
Was it perfect the first time I did it?
No... then again, what is? ;-)
I definitely recommend playing some music (or watching some Dancing with the Stars) and just starting with scratch paper first. It's fabulously soothing and you're find what works for you.

The border is stamped with one of the images that is included in the set as well. I love that they matchy match. :) The other doily fits perfectly on the big scalloped circle (large) die from Spellbinders. A match made in heaven! :)

Thanks for stopping by and be sure to visit the rest of the ladies for some fabulous creations as well!

Waltzingmouse Stamps May Release - Day 1

Welcome to the first day of the Waltzingmouse Stamps May Release previews! The DT and I will be sharing projects over the next several days featuring FIVE new stamp sets that will be available for purchase at the Waltzingmouse online store starting Sunday, May 1.

Today, we're all previewing Gingham & Co. It's such a fun background set, prominently featuring gingham -- of course! :)

Thinking About You Card
Gingham can be used in so many fun ways. For my first project, I used it as a border.
It adds a fun little look to the bottom of your cards. The leaves come from Pic-Nic Patterns and the sentiment comes from Fancy Phrases. The flower, well, that's a sneeky for you. ;-) We'll formally introduce that set later in the week.

Hi Card
You can also use it on your labels.

For this one, I die cut one of the labels 18. The gingham is then stamped and embossed with white embossing powder. Again, the sentiment comes from Fancy Phrases.

Thanks for stopping by and be sure to stop by these ladies for some wonderful inspiration!
