WMS March Preview - Day 3

Welcome to the third and last day of the Waltzingmouse Stamps March Release previews! The DT and I will be sharing projects over the next several days featuring FIVE new stamp sets that will be available for purchase at the Waltzingmouse online store starting Tuesday, March 1.

Today we're all featuring Vintage Banners and Bitty Banners. Be sure to check out ClaireAnyaBonnieJenniferJuliaLaurieLynnMonaSandie, and Sarah who all have fabulous projects to share with you!

Ok. I'm a rebel. I do love me a good banner.
But there's something to be said about making those banners something else.

It's like in kindergarten when I wanted to color my turkey pink and my teacher said that the turkey's body had to be brown and only the turkey feathers could be colored. Apparently my childhood teachers didn't appreciate the off-track creativity.

So today's post is using those banners in fun ways. :)

This first one is a fun party dress. I picked one of the banners from the Vintage Banners set to create a fun festive dress for that fabulous woman in your life.

I trimmed the banners and for some of them, I made them a little shorter. Used my handy dandy scallop border punch to create the borders.

Then adhered the dress bits together and rolled up the edges of the dress.

The hanger... well, I pulled that off an old Christmas card...
I'd love to find some at a craft supply store....
If anyone knows where to get some...

And yes, it's only February, but you know, WMS is sponsoring Christmas challenges to help keep you on track! So get those stamps out, Christmas stamps or not!  I used the Bitty Banners to create a small little Christmas tree forest. Stamped a small heart on each tree and add some gems to the tree tops.

Get your party hats for tomorrow's release waltz! ;-)

WMS March Preview - Day 2

Welcome to the second day of the Waltzingmouse Stamps November Release previews! The DT and I will be sharing projects over the next several days featuring FIVE new stamp sets that will be available for purchase at the Waltzingmouse online store starting Tuesday, March 1.

Today we're all featuring Vintage Labels 18 - which corresponds with the Spellbinders Labels 18. Be sure to check out ClaireAnyaBonnieJenniferJuliaLaurieLynnMonaSandie, and Sarah who all have fabulous projects to share with you!

I don't own the labels 18 dies yet so I just slowly cut it out. It's really not too hard.
And I'm not a patient cutter.

Some simple ribbon and a sentiment and you have a lovely card.

For this one,  I decided to mask the frame.
I stamped the frame, created a mask and then stamped the flowers.

Added some simple buttons and a few scraps and what a lovely Christmas card.

There's glitter on the red strip of paper as well but its definitely not showing up in the photo.

Thanks for stopping by!

WMS March Preview - Day 1

Welcome to the first day of the Waltzingmouse Stamps March Release previews! The DT and I will be sharing projects over the next several days featuring FIVE new stamp sets that will be available for purchase at the Waltzingmouse online store starting Tuesday, March 1.  Today we're all featuring Way Out West and Back in the Saddle.

Before we begin, I'd like to extend a warm welcome to Sarah, our latest DT member! I know she's going to have some amazing project that wow you all!

Be sure to check out ClaireAnyaBonnieJenniferJuliaLaurieLynnMona, and Sarah who all have fabulous projects to share with you!

These sets are just jam packed with fun images and sentiments. So great for fun masculine projects!

I stamped off the image to create the lighter "shadow" images. I love the look of the cowboy man just galloping off into the wild wild west.

This patterned paper is actually from My Minds Eye Colorful Christmas collection. Who says Christmas paper is only for Christmas time? ;-)

Part of my very young childhood was spent in Arizona.
And I remember the reddish tint to the "hills".

So I stamped my bg with a nice orangey red.

once I stamped that, I stamped the front cactus scene over the mountains.
Such a fun effect.

Notice the woodgrain? That's a fun new background image as well! ;-)

Into the Wild Blue Yonder

Before you read this post and think I'm super brave...
It's time for a disclaimer.
I'm a big fat chicken....

I'm deadly afraid of ghosts.

Yes, I said it. Ghosts.
When I was little, I used to think there were ghosts in my family's chimney.
I wouldn't sleep alone for the longest time - my poor mother.
I had nightmares for weeks after visiting my grandma's resting place.
Still not a fan of cemeteries.

Yes, I'm a big girl. I realize that ghosts aren't real.
But you won't catch me near a chimney in the dark without a friend.
And I still hold my breath when I'm near a cemetery.
Because you just never know...

There I said my biggest fear.
Now we can go on...

So yes, I did managed to jump out of a plane. Somehow...
But I'm not really that brave... Just crazy...

Keep in mind that it was a tandem jump.
They don't let the hoi polloi just jump out of a plane by themselves!
So sometimes when I think back, I wonder if I was pushed out of  the plane?

My fellow interns decided that we should all go skydiving.
It sounded like a great plan at the time. I was young. I thought I could conquer the world.

And well, some of these days, I wish I could grab that energy again. Drink that crazy juice.
So I thought I'd scrap this photo to remind me that not so long ago, I didn't think anything could stop me.

I actually can't recall if this photo was taken before or after the jump. But I think it was before... I lost one contact on the way down so I think I switched to glasses after the jump.

Most of the layout contents come from the February Studio Calico kit. I just started subscribing as a means to help me curb some of my excessive spending on paper. I'll let you know how that works out. ;-)

The extra supplies come from Papertrey Ink. I love the Fly Away set designed by Becky Oehlers - that plane is just to adorable! And to think that I hadn't used it yet. Granted the plane I jumped (er, was pushed) out of was probably not that small but it seems like it sometimes. ;-)  A little twine and glue to help simulate the fight path of the little plane and some fun clouds were added as well.

And in case this photo isn't enough proof, there is video evidence that I jumped...

Absolutely Sweetheart

Please join us for our Friends of Waltzingmouse Stamps Blog Waltz

I wasn't going to waltz today.

But then I felt a little bad not having anything to share.
So I pulled myself out of bed
and wrote this post up for you all.
Because I love you that much. :)

Make sure to check out everyone's posts at the WMS forum.
This month is all about the buttons. I love me some cute buttons.
Also, there's a fun little game going on so be sure to play for a chance at a fun prize!

No special word to look for on this post but ...
I am the DT member that can be easily bribed. ;-)

So I have a card. It has a button on it...
But I wouldn't call it a creative use of buttons by any stretch of the imagination.
But there is a button! A big button.

I don't actually own Labels #2, but Vintage Labels No. 2 has some frames that work well even if you don't use the nesties to cut them out. And the frame is super flourishy - ah florish love!

Thanks for waltzing by and do make sure to check out the Friends of WMS waltz!

Happy Valentine's Day from your Secret Admier

Happy Valentine's Day!

Everyone should hug your sweetie a little tighter today.
Except me...

My sweetie made me sicker.
Before I just had the sniffles. And now, I have a sore throat. Boo.
I spent the weekend consuming lots of cough drops.
Luckily, with my coupon-ing skills, the whole bag we consumed only cost a quarter.

Speaking of coupon skills, I snagged a bag of truffles for $1.
That was our V-day treat.
Although we consumed most of them before Valentine's Day...
Piggies we are.

So I just have a simple little lovey dovey card for you today. Just a little something to slip into someone's mailbox. :) Yes, I know, I'm obsessed with window cards. Sue me. This one was created with a little circle punch.

I promise we'll have some non-window projects soon.
In fact, I'm finishing up some touches on a layout I worked on this past weekend.

Hope you all have a lovely Valentine's Day, filled with lots of chocolate and love. :)

Make It Monday - Ugly Stepchild Purple

We've been a little sick in this household.

Actually...
I have a few sniffles. That's about as sick as I've ever been. And I'm miserable.
The husband... well lets just say if I was ever that sick, I'd probably fling myself off a building.
I'm actually a little convinced that our basil is sick too. I think Mr. Basil just misses the summer air though.

So after dealing with the sniffles and a long two days at work (yes... I know it's only Wednesday), I decided I needed to each some chocolate, watch Biggest Loser and craft.

Is it just me but I LOVE watching people work out while I pig out. Is that odd?

I really don't just watch TV all night... I swear.

To get into the swing of things, I decided to participate in Papertrey Ink's first Make it Monday challenge. Challenges are always a fun way to get the ideas spinning and I just needed that kick today. This week's challenge was to use multiple sentiments on your card.  What a fun concept - and something I've always loved when I've seen others do it.

When I chose colors, I decided to use purple. For some reason, it' a color I don't turn to often. It's like the ugly stepchild of colors for me. Do you have an ugly stepchild color?

So I stamped my sentiments in Versamark and embossed with clear embossing powder. I love embossing. Instead of using a stamped panel, I wanted to create a window. I have an obsession with windows right now as well. Embossing and windows...

To emphasize my window, I pierced a circle around my die cut window. Added a little crocheted flower and some buttons.

And there you go -- just a little simple didly for a friend on her birthday. Just don't tell them purple is my ugly stepchild...

Thanks for stopping by! :)
Have a fabulous rest of the week!
