Wedding Programs

So I know I said I wasn't going to be posting for awhile but I've been working on this for the past week so I thought it was worth sharing.

So here it is guys - my wedding program... My orignal intent was to stamp my programs but then I decided I'd try to see what I could create with some of the free digital kits avaliable on the world wide web. This is pretty simple and basically all I did was modify the colors to suit my wedding needs. I'm certainly happy to share the RGB values and this file if there's interest.

This is the front and the back of the program (click on the image for a larger view). It's sized to be 5.5 by 5.5. I'm showing this as it'll be printed (guess I could have chopped the images more). Starting from the pink is the front cover.

No, my parents are not named John and Jane Doe - I modified text so it wouldn't reveal personal information. Again, click on the image for a larger view.

My dear future hubby told me that dots were lame but I told him that it was my program and I'd do what I want. Isn't that just the beginning of a great relationship? :-D Ok, so I was a lot nicer in convincing him that dots were classic and yet oh, so trendy. I'm actually surprised that he complained about the dots and not the execessive amounts of girly colors...

Taking a Break

Well, with the upcoming 'madness' in my life, I'll be taking a small break from blogging and from commenting as well. I hope everyone understands.

I'll be back in mid April to share some pictures and begin my life as a Mrs! :-D

Monster Tubes

Have I mentioned how much I *love* the new Stephanie Fizer sets? Ok, so when do I not as her images are always sooo cute! ;)

I have yet another fun project to share with the Hooga Booga set that I didn't have time to post onto my blog before the release. There were just 3 days and so many things to share! But it was definitely a fun run and I'm glad that the MFT team gave me a chance. :-) Definitely fun and you guys should give it a shot if you haven't! Seriously, if I can do it, so can you. ;-)

This was actually one of my first projects with this set. I created some fun acrylic tubes to hold some tasty jelly beans! I created the tubes by cutting 4 1/4 by 5 1/2 size pieces of transparency. I used glue lines (glue dots could work too - lines are just easier) to line one of the long edges of the transparencies. I kept the clear lining on the glue until I was ready to line things up. I tried to line the top and bottom first and the rest just "came together".

The tops and bottoms were created the same way. I wrapped some DP around the edges - and on the inside, I have some strips of paper attaching the edges to the bottom piece. I had a little trouble with some of the stability of the holders but that's mainly because I'm impatient. ;-)

I punched two holes into the acrylic near one edge - one on each side. I strung ribbon through and then tied it together on the top to hold everything together.

Let me just say as a precaution - Jelly Bellies are very pungent. My tummy kept growling when I was filling the tubes and taking the pics!

The tags were pretty simple and fun to create as well. I punched some circles from the dp. Glued them together and attached a cut out critter. Used the SU Word Window Punch for the sentiments and some fun gems to jazz it all up! Threaded some silver jewelry trim and tied the tag to the ribbon.

See, clear as mud! But really, you can use the tags on anything (or for that matter, attach anything to the clear tubes). Definitely cheaper than buying your own - tags or tubes!

Okay, on to the eye candy! I couldn't really decide what to show so I'm going to show two projects (well, one and a half perhaps). Mainly because I really loved the Hooga Booga set and I just couldn't put it down!

Card
For the card, I paper pieced three of the cute little critters. When I first saw this monster/critter, I just really wanted them to link arms. I linked their arms together but cutting out the arms (and gluing them back in behind the paper piecing). It reminds me of all the times I played Red Rover as a child. Isn't that saying just adorable? I stamped it three times for a little more fun and to extend my sentiment a little.



Scrappy Gift
As some of you may know, I'm getting married in less than a month (gasp!). For my grooms gift, I decided that I'd make my honey something he can treasure forever. I'm going to show a few select pages as a girl's gotta have some privacy! ;-) Can't show my lovey dovey-ness or R rated commentary on a blog. *smirk*

For the cover, I stamped the cloud images from the Hooga Booga set onto the acrylic. Once it dried, I used my glue pen to fill in the area and pressed some white flock on. I think it turned out quite well. :-) I have to admit, it looks pretty cool to see flock on acrylic in person.

Since the album is graduated in size, I let some of the little critters peek out from the edges. The scallop papers between the acrylic pieces are actually just cardstock that I trimmed to match the size of the album. I don't believe in a 5 page album.

All the little critters (and they're all over the book in various spot) are either paper pieced or colored and all have a little flock on them as well (since I've learned my honey likes texture and all things fuzzy).

Everything else I think its pretty self explanatory. To make it a little more fun, a lot of my pages have windows into the next page - easier said than done sometimes... I have a lot of punches to sharpen this weekend and a sore hand. ;-)

MFT Sneak Peek - What's Chirping?

This is just a fun little card using the full image (as opposed to the previous post).

For this one, I made it a little pocket card again (sorry ladies, totally obsessed with pocket cards). But this time, its underneath the main image. To create the pocket, I pop dotted the top and the bottom of the back and then the card slips right in. :0)

MFT Sneak Peak - Nite Nite Ellie Bookmark

One of the things I remember the most about bedtime was that my parents would read me a book. The fun thing about story time for me was that I didn't speak English as a child so my parents would actually "translate" the Berenstain Bears (my fave) for me. The story was never the same each night due to some inconsistent translations. ;-) Maybe that's why I liked it better than my Chinese bedtime books - it was always an adventure and the story was never the same. ;-)

So when I saw Nite Nite Ellie, the first thing that came to mind was to create a bookmark! And what's the best way to present a bookmark? Ah yes... a bookmark card!

I hope the pictures make it somewhat self explanatory but I'll try to explain it a little more in detail.

Bookmark:
I created the bookmark first, making it smaller than your typical card. I attached Ellie onto the bookmark - but only glued her head on as if she's "hanging" (wow that sounds morbid). I can measure it if anyone's interested but I kind of eyed everything...

Now onto the card:
I created a simple layout, knowing that Ellie the bookmark was going to there as well - however, I wanted the design to still be able to stand alone somewhat even after the bookmark was removed.

When I glued things down, the bottom layer was attached last and I only put adhesive on the edges, thereby creating a little blanket for Ellie to rest in. :-)

MFT Sneak Peak - Nite Nite Billie...

For my card, I used Nite Nite Ellie. This set is also a Charity set and $2 from each retail set sold will benefit St. Judes Children Hospital for the first 6 months of release! How cool is that?

Although instead of using Ellie, I converted her to a "him"... and so I've renamed this cutie Billie. ;-) Hope Jen del Muro doesn't mind since I've learned this set was her idea and based off her very cute daughter. Just wanted to really show how you can use the set even if you don't have a little girl.

Once I colored in little Billie, I cut him out (with some selective cutting). When you see the full image, it'll make sense but I basically cut out the ponytail and then trimmed the head to be a little less round. I felt like the roundness made him still look feminine.

Tip: With suggestive cutting, you can increase the diversity of your stamps! Try cutting out only parts of the image so see what you get!
