Simple Halloween Treats

Hope everyone's having a grand week! I'm currently in Chicago -- ah, Chi-town! Love it! I miss the area so much but alas, sometimes we don't get what we want in life. ;-) We're definitely stopping by for some fabulously tasty Chicago dogs (yum yum yum) and deep dish!

I just wanted to share a quickie project using some of the fun tags from Midnight Feast. As I kid I remember this fabulously catchy rhyme that we'd chant:
Trick or Treat,
smell my feet,
give me something good to eat!

So here's a fun treat:

I wanted some quick Halloween gifts -- perfect to make for kids. Not that I know any... but my hubs is pretty close sometimes. ;-) A stamp, a punch and a button later, we have a simple treat for anyone.

Thanks for stopping by and have a fab week!

WMS August Blog Waltz - Horribly Happy Halloween

Welcome to the Waltzingmouse July Release Design Team Blog Waltz. Make sure to start at Claire's blog to go through the entire waltz!

This month there will be 2 fabulous Halloween sets (Wanda's Pantry and Midnight Feast) that we'll be showcasing in the waltz! Remember you can win a free stamp set by leaving a comment at each blog along the way! One winner will be chosen from comments on Claire's blog and one winner will be chosen from comments left on one of the DT's blogs!

We've been talking on the forum about 10 minute cards and well, I decided I'd try my hand at one. My desk is COVERED with scraps and Jess Witty does her 10 minute scrap pile challenge every week so I figured why not give it a try? At worst case, I'll clear some of the scraps off my desk without having to "actually" clean my desk.

And ladies, I timed myself. I managed to make the card in 10 minutes (ok, 10:59....) and the tag was made in under 10 minutes. :)

Ok, and then after I made everything, I fiddled, I trimmed and but I didn't touch the card... Ok, never mind, I flocked. So perhaps this wasn't done in 10 minutes but I'm going to dream. Besides I fully believe that the flocking adds so much to the bats. It's not my fault it took me 20 minutes to find my flock!  At least I had something to show after 10 minutes... and not just a messy desk.

Next up is the wonderfully talented Julia!

WMS August Preview Day 3 - Candy Bag

Welcome to another fun day of WMS previews! Today I am previewing Wanda's Pantry -- another fun set to package your Halloween goodies! :) Make sure to check Claire's blog for some fabulous eye candy and also be sure to check out the following ladies: Anya, Bonnie, Jennifer, Julia, Laurie, Lisa, Lynn, and Mona (our fabulous new DT member)!

I wanted to create a fun little Halloween bag that you could hang on your neighbor's door, a kid's school locker, or on an office door.  I love leaving little surprises for people so this set is just up my alley. This little bag is pretty simple to make so you could totally mass produce this!

I took the patterned paper folded it in half and then sewed along the edges.  The fun label has a bunch of different sentiments you can stamp inside. I picked the fun one related to candy but there's one for almost every fun thing you'd want to package up.

I've personally always felt that tootsie rolls are kinda regurgitated looking... so well, I stuffed the candy bag with some tootsie roll related candies. Trust me, just because I think they're regurgitated, doesn't mean I won't eat it. ;-)

Thanks for stopping by and be sure to check out the rest of the fabulous DT for some more projects! Check out the following ladies for some fab projects: Anya, Bonnie, Claire, Jennifer, Julia, Laurie, Lisa, Lynn, and Mona (our fabulous new DT member)!

WMS August Preview Day 2 - Halloween Candy

Welcome to another day of WMS previews! Make sure to check Claire's blog for some fabulous eye candy and also be sure to check out the following ladies: Anya, Bonnie, Jennifer, JuliaLynn, and Mona (our fabulous new DT member)!

Can I just say that I LOVE Halloween? Growing up, we never really did much and actually any candy I got from trick or treating was confiscated. Actually, maybe that's why I love it so much now as an adult. Have you noticed that things you weren't allowed as a kid, you absolutely love now? Probably explains my unexplained love of pizza rolls...

Ok, enough babbling, let's get started!

The best part about Halloween? The ability to eat candy and give others candy! This new Waltzingmouse set, Midnight Feast, is absolutely perfect for packaging some fun Halloween goodies! I think people will be seeing lots of fun Halloween packages from me this year! ;-)

Card Details:

The images in Midnight Feast are absolutely fabulous and there's a fun background building star border! So fun! The stars are stamped and then embossed with a holographic embossing powder -- so it is a little sparkly in real life.  I colored the lovely witch with my copics. I added a little shading as well to give her some interest. I did run my glitter pen over her dress to give it a little more sparkle. :)

Candy Wrapper Details:

Yum! I wrapped a Hershey's chocolate bar with some patterned paper. To add a little visual interest, I wrapped the orange paper  (with the star bg stamped in VersaMark) at a diagonal. When I wrap any candy package, I normally place the paper over the object to wrap, draw marking lines in pencil and then scor. This way I can just make any wrapper fit when I need it (and I'm too lazy to measure the object). The toughest part was actually getting the ribbon to stay at a diagonal as well.

I love my clear glaze pen and I ran it over the bats for some fun raised texture. I love the glaze pen for smaller objects. :) So fun!

Remember, there's lots of goodies from Anya, Bonnie, Claire, Jennifer, JuliaLynn, and Mona (our fabulous new DT member)!

Hope you all have a fabulous weekend!

Thanks To You

Wow, it's been a bit of time since I blogged... it's a week since my last post but 2 weeks since I actually blogged since most of these posts have been scheduled. I don't know about you guys, but any time after traveling, I just have a need to be a lazy lazy bum!

Couple of things -- definitely check out the new WMS Gallery! And Claire's even giving out a prize to one very lucky album owner! So go create an album in the gallery and upload your WMS creations!

I'll be in Chicago next week for CHA -- super excited! Hope to get to meet some of you guys in real life! In the meantime, WMS sneak peeks will start showing soon!

This is just a fun little diddly that I created with Victorian Frippery and Fancy Phrases. The lacey bg can be used in so many ways. I love that you can line it up 2 ways for 2 different looks just by flipping the stamp. The stamp is embossed with a clear embossing powder.

Hope you guys have a fabulous rest of the week! :)

Syrup of Kindness

Happy Thursday!!! I can't wait to get home tomorrow! I miss my bed... as much as I love a certain hotel for their cookies, nothing can compare to my own bed. Although I wouldn't mind learning how these cookies taste so fabulous...

I went with a vintagey thank you card. I LOVE the look of these labels from Rescue Remedies and they work so nicely with some of the decorative elements in Victorian Frippery from WMS.And so a card was born.

Hope you all have a lovely weekend!

Glad you're in MY corner!

I'm headed out of town again but I needed some thank you for your support cards. So I have a fun and quick little card for you today.

The sentiment comes from Rescue Remedies Additions from WMS. It's just a fun sentiment and a good way to say, thanks for being my friend, thanks for all the support, and thanks dude for being you -- all in one.  I added some buttons on the bottom for a little color variery -- I think I might swap the button/sentiment order next time but I think its still fun this way.

I've been loving the impression plates from PTI and I think I finally got a pretty clean sandwich (or maybe my little cuttlebug has finally loosened up a little).

Hope you have a lovely week!

Tag, You're It!

It's my turn to host the Princess challenge! :) In case you're new to the blog-o, this is a fun group of girls who are all love to stamp, to be creative, and to blog about our adventures. We also take turns hosting challenges -- and this week is my turn.

My challenge is to "tag" it! Often times when I'm not feeling the craftiness, I make tags. This does two things - (1) It lets me use up my patterned paper stash and (2) It's a small space to work with so there's less to stress about.  Tags are great to have on hand for gifts or even to pop onto a card later when the moment is right!

So give it a try. They're quick, they're snazzy and they're guaranteed to make you smile!

I have a lot of thank you gifts to send and so I'm sharing a few of the tags I've started.

My first tag uses my fave butterfly stamp from Hero Arts. The sentiment comes from Verve. A lovely sentiment and probably my favorite one of all time.

The second one is simple and quick. Again, one of the nice things about tags... grab some of the small papers in your stash and see what happens! Used Very Vintage Labels 4 and Fancy Phrases from WMS.

Give it a try -- tag! You're it! No backsies!

(Ok, if you didn't get that last statement, you need to get out more and play with little kids or maybe I need to grow up)

Almost forgot to share this!  This cutie gift card holder was published in the May issue of CARDS Magazine.  (Thanks, CARDS!)

Thank You for your kindness

ETA: Be sure to check out my feature over at the Paper Crafts Connection blog!  Thanks Paper Crafts! They're also featuring my Heartfelt Thanks card as well. :)

Whoops, I think I forgot to share this! I had sent this to someone as a thanks for some blog candy and I was trying to make sure she got it first. And then I guess I never remembered to share!

The tree is paper pieced and I used one of the stamps in the set to emboss as well. When I created this, it was fall... so I was going for a fall look.

Hope everyone's having a great week!

WMS July Blog Waltz

Welcome to the July Release Blog Waltz for Waltzingmouse Stamps. :) If you happened upon my blog, be sure to check out ALL the great projects by starting at Claire's blog.

As usual, there's prizes to be won for a random commenter on the DT blogs (it could be any blog!) and a random commenter on Claire's blog. The competition will end at 11:59 pm EASTERN on July 3rd. The winners will be announced on the WMS blog after that. So be sure to comment on every step along the way!

I wanted to just create a fun set to thank my friend M for some of her support. I love all my friends and every once in awhile, it's good to tell them that. :) She'll be getting it in the mail shortly.

For the card, I actually used a little masking on the lace pattern from Victorian Fripperie. I placed two post-it notes down before I stamped. I love that I can mask the edges off to use my background set in a different fashion.

The sentiment and frame come from Fancy Phrases.

I had the crimper on my desk still from a thank you card I created awhile back so I figured I'd use it again before I placed it back in my bin of dusty tools again. Note to self: hold the crimper tighter next time... but the subtle effect isn't too bad.

Wrapped that, along with some patterned paper and twine around a pack of Altoids.  The label comes from the new July set Rescue Remedies. It just fit nicely over the box and its just a lovely vintagey, old fashioned look.

Next up is the wonderfully talented Carly. I know you'll love what she has created!
