I Love You

It's been a year... yesterday. A year of being in a new location, a year of a new last name and a year of cooking for someone besides me. To celebrate, we ate cake, cake that has been in the back of the freezer for a year. Surprisingly tasty cake for being in our freezer for so long... I'm still eating cake. I had cake for breakfast and lunch (shhh, don't tell -- although my thighs might spill the beans).

So here's my card. I didn't want to share it early but I made it awhile back (you can tell because my sewing machine wasn't acting up then -- time to get a new one but I'm a cheapo and am gonna keep milking my sewing machine until I want to throw it out the window. I'm close... but not close enough to spend the moolah on a new one). I scored the base as per the PTI Princess Challenge a couple of challenges back. :) I scored a base line and then a fun diamond pattern.

Be sure to check out all the WMS DT blogs and Claire's blog for April's WMS sneek peeks! :) I'll be posting Wednesday! :)

Happy Birthday David

Happy birthday to my kid brother. :) A whole new decade! And I just realized how old I am... ahhhck.

Ok, onto the card. I kept it simple and to the point. First off, I was going to mail it so I avoided buttons and ribbon. I even avoided dimensional adhesive. Secondly, it's for a guy.

I sewed the two edges, leaving the top and bottom clean. I'm learning that it's fun to just sew parts of the card for more impact. Heh. (Ok, honestly? I couldn't figure out the best way to turn when I got to the corner so I figured I'd do just the two sides). But despite that, there is something to be said about selective sewing.

Since my brother was born so close to St Patty's day, I figured I'd play off of that. And I've been having a lot of fun with Celtic Heritage, so why stop now? That and my desk is a mess so it's about the only set I can find right now. Haha! I stamped the happy 3 times in white. Used a square punch to get the edges. I love that the set has all the words as separate stamps so that I can choose my own colors. :)

Hope everyone's having a great week!

Tuesday Trigger

So this week's Tuesday Trigger was a lovely green and white image. Since I've had Celtic Heritage from Waltzingmouse Stamps out, I decided I'd play along. :)

I stamped the swirls from Seasons of Love - Tags and then cut them out. I used dimensional adhesive to adhere them to the cardstock. I punched a border from cream (and I kinda wasn't even about it... which I didn't notice until it was too late - whoops).

I love this green and I'll be using it for my WMS blog hop post later this week! In case you didn't know, Waltzingmouse Stamps is hosting its second Customer Blog Hop on Wednesday March 17th... St. Patrick's Day! Of course, we have to celebrate that memorable Irish Holiday! Please visit the Waltzingmouse Blog for more information... and to pick up some free digis. You can use them to participate in the Blog Hop if you don't already own some yummy Waltzingmouse Stamps stamp sets! The links and chat will happen in our very own Waltzingmouse House Forum, so be sure to register ahead of time so you can play and/or enjoy the Blog Hop without delay.

A little Craft Fair loving!

So I'm totally creeping in at the last minute... The American Crafts Postmarked Week Challenge was to create a card using at least 2 American Crafts products. Perfect time to pull out some unloved products. :) So I have 4 cards to share for this challenge. Bear with me and my long post!

I've had Craft Fair from American Crafts laying around for ages and I really was itching to use it again. So tonight I pulled it out and started playing around with the papers and embellishments I had in my craft area.

BFF Card
So I loved the owl paper from Craft Fair the minute I saw it. Aren't these little critters adorable? I'm one of those hoarders that never cuts into paper I LOVE. I just can't bear it sometimes... but today I did the unthinkable, I cut into all my favorite papers! This is totally a card of faves.

Isn't that pink woodgrain TO DIE for? And those owls? Both are papers I finally cut into. I trimmed the little owls out and then sewed on a little zig zag stitch on my patterned paper. I also used my FAVORITE thickers. Note that sometimes thickers can be used as pseudo-brads as well. *Smile* The BFF stands for Best Friends Forever. :) I used to use that phrase all the time in junior high...

Whoo Loves You? Card
I had an extra owl cut out that I had been playing with for the first card. I also have been hoarding the Craft Fair stickers... especially the branch with this adorable sentiment! So I cut a fun circle into my Craft Fail patterned paper and added dimensional adhesive to lift it from the back. Added a little faux stitching with my white gel pen as well. And who doesn't love buttons? I thought I could use a little edging and so I glued a gazillion buttons on.

The hearts are stamped using Earth Angel from Waltzingmouse Stamps and then carefully trimmed. I think it gives a little color to the inside.

Homespun Hugs Card
So when I first saw the spools of thread from the Craft Fair line I just wanted to cut them out! And then I saw the button rubons! Can I say that I LOVE that the American Crafts rubons keep their color even if you put them on colored cardstock or in this case, kraft.

I applied a little dimensional adhesive to my spools and arranged them together. I just love the buttons on the side and I'm sad that I have no more... And I tied a pink ribbon on the side to separate it a little.

I love the homespun hugs sentiment from Waltzingmouse Stamps. I think it fits the bill. The scallops are just 7/8 inch circle punches. And I did a zigzag stitch along the edge of the card for some more "homespun" effect.

Thank You Sew Much Card
This last one is actually the first one I made tonight. Again, I LOVE LOVE LOVE that the rubons work so well against colored paper. The nice thing about the American Crafts patterned paper is that one side is solid. Since I didn't have cardstock in some of these colors, it worked really well for me.

I used my nesties to create a circle. Again, I really like insetting my images (as you've seen with this card and the Whoo Loves You Card). I stamped the sentiment from Waltzingmouse Stamps.

XOXO

It's been awhile since I've just been able to create. Since Jan, I haven't had much breathing room between the traveling and work. So it felt good to finally have a breather.

I got my hands on some of the Love Me Do collection from My Mind's Eye. I pulled my sewing machine out again... and finally mastered my fear of going around corners with the zig zag stitch. I think I even managed to sew straight for the most part...

When I saw the little punch out of the birds and the balloon, I knew I had to use it. Everything else just revolved around that. I punched out a heart and adhered it to the balloon. I also ran a clear glaze pen over the birds wings... while its not noticeable over the photo, I've had a lot of fun doing these days. It adds a little dimension.

The XOXO is also from the punch outs, but I trimmed it to fit my needs. Stuck a little hat pin through the ribbon and used a little glue dot to keep everything in place. :)

So fun and simple.
