Welcome to another WMS Customer Blog Waltz!
Instead of the typical watermark search game, we decided to take it a little easier on your eyes. Be sure to find the special word on every participating DT member's blog-o to answer the following question: What is the subject of one of the new stamp sets to be released on September 1st?
This month the theme was shabby/vintage.
I don't do either. I don't like inking. I don't like old.
Shabby always seemed to me a little soft (rather than STRONG) and a little aged (rather than fresh and new).
I spent a weekend on this... pondering...
So let's see what happened shall we?
Really, the question is what didn't I ink up? I inked the ribbon and the edges of all the cardstock. I stamped the purple cardstock with a flourish from Victorian Frippery. The bird cage comes from Asian Garden and the sentiment is from Fancy Phrases.
Love it, I'm so glad to read that you too (ms. crafty queen that you are) have a hard time with this style. Your card is lovely!
ReplyDeleteSo sweet, love the colours you used.
ReplyDeleteSo Soft & pretty :)
ReplyDeleteI love this - maybe this is my kinda shabby chich style because it's sooooooo pretty and aged but still super sweet!

While I love looking at other's Shabby/Vintage cards, I'm clueless when it comes to making them! I think your card is really pretty - vintage or not!
ReplyDeleteOh no...no fail here...look at the button and the creamy ribbon, and the vintagey looking thread...and the bird cage! I think you definitely got shabby with this design...in a good way! Beautiful card, Belinda!

ReplyDeleteThis is actually quite pretty, and I don't think you faltered too far from your own style Belinda.
ReplyDeleteSimply so pretty! I love the mix of shabby chic elements on a CAS design. Perfection!!
ReplyDeleteI love the soft colors...very sweet!
ReplyDeleteThis is just perfect, Belinda. Just enough to make it shabby chic. I really battle with this style...always seem to think it needs lots of layers, yet you have shown me otherwise. Love it!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful, I think you did a wonderful job!
ReplyDeleteSimply darling Belinda! Great way to combine Shabby & CAS!
ReplyDeleteYou kept the card you but incorporated the theme. Nothing wrong with that! (I did it too) I like the distressing. :)
ReplyDeleteVery pretty, Belinda. Very soft and feminine and i think you nailed the theme!
ReplyDeleteI love this card, Belinda! It's simple shabby. The button, the ribbon, and the bird cage all give it a vintage flair.

ReplyDeleteBelinda, your card is really beautiful & you definitely didn't fail!! I LOVE it!
ReplyDeleteSo soft and pretty! This card is definitely a winner!
ReplyDeleteI don't think you failed. This is not typically my style - so I know I had a hard time with it - but I think we are our own worst critics...I think this came out great -- I like that you 'shabbied up' the ribbon...I thought about it on mine, but didn't go through with it...I was too chicken, lol.
ReplyDeleteWow, this is absolutely gorgeous! So elegant, I love it!
ReplyDeleteHugs, Christine
Yep - the secret is just to add ink, and when in doubt, add more! I am very attracted to shabby chic, but have discovered it is harder than it seems! I like what you did with this theme, though, and yet still stayed true to your muse. :-)
ReplyDeleteI don't think you failed at all, Belinda! Your card is lovely!
ReplyDeleteOh wow Belinda, that looks so pretty, like the idea that you used a real thread for the cage and with the button on top, just perfect! Isn't that set wonderful?
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely stunning card!!
ReplyDeleteha - you thought you struggle with this theme? you should have seen my horrid blank stare at my craft table. thankfully we purchased those tea dye duos at CHA or else i wouldn't have made it very far. i used the same approach: ink ink ink. love your little bird and your piece of twine.
ReplyDeleteI think this is a beautiful card Belinda! I like the way you keep vintage/shabby chic clean and neat! :)
ReplyDeleteAww...that is so very sweet, what a beautiful color combo and I LOVE how the bird cage gently hangs from the ribbon!
ReplyDeletethis is gorgeous! so soft and pretty! fab design, too! love it!
ReplyDeleteI love it, it's so elegant and delicate at the same time ;-)
ReplyDeleteBelinda, you make me laugh! I think this is a sweet card and you should be very proud that you "branched" out with something new!
ReplyDeleteLovely card Belinda! I think you did a great job with the challenge!
ReplyDeleteYou know What? I love it! I think the same Belinda - which is why mine stank LOL!! Yours is beautiful regardless!
